VPB#2 - World Photo Day

Happy World Photo Day!

Firstly, some background on World Photo Day

World photo day was started by Australian photographer, Korske Ara, in 2009, who is passionate about connecting people and letting them tell their stories to inspire positive change in the world.   The original light bulb moment came to Ara in his bedroom in Canberra, Australia, and launched in 2010. In its inaugural year, just 250 people registered to participate. Ara was determined to grow World Photo Day into an organisation that had the scale and reach to have a real impact, and that determination definitely paid off! In 2016, Wolrd Photo Day reached a global social audience of 500 million people around the world. That is a phenomenal achievement.

I believe that photography has the power to tell stories, inspire generations and create positive impact in the world
— Korske Ara (Founder, World Photo Day)

You can find out much more or get involved on the World Photo Day website.

To celebrate World Photo Day we are offering you the chance to win a free portraiture session for you and a friend/partner/family member.
All you have to do is submit your favourite image that you have taken and give a brief story behind the image, or what it means to you.

Of all the entries we will be selecting a few of our favourites which will then be put to a poll on the Vega Photography Facebook page. The submission with the most votes will be declared the winner of the portrait session.

Terms & Conditions

Entries from our known pro photography friends will not be considered for the Poll stage, for obvious reasons, but we do invite our pro friends to get in touch and share their favourite image and its story and we will happily feature it in one of our next blogs.

  • Only one entry per person permitted
  • Image must be taken by person submitting
  • Entries from our professional photography friends are welcomed but will not be considered for final poll.

Welcome to the Vega Photography Blog, & more importantly, welcome to the Vega Photography website!

We hope that you like what you see so far and that you stick with us to see what is to come.
We have been working hard over the last couple of weeks to ensure that we have plenty of content to provide from day one, as well as many more ideas for the coming days, weeks, months, and hopefully years.

Both Keith (Dad) & I are really excited to finally have the website live as well as all the social media accounts that you would expect. You can find us on Facebook, Twitter, as well as Instagram. Thanks to everyone that has so far supported us with Likes, Shares, and follows, we really appreciate it! And to all those that haven't yet done any of those things, please please do to help spread the word.

If any of are curious to know more about Vega Photography's beginnings and aims, or Keith and/or my backgrounds you can get a little glimpse in the About section, or drop us a question in the comment section below.

And for any one wanting to know more information about the photographic services we provide, or want to know our availability for booking, OR you're just bored and want to talk photography (that is kind of meant as a joke, but we probably would reply anyway, we both love gear and technical talk), you can get in touch with us using the Contact page.

We'll have more blog posts coming soon so keep your eyes peeled, we hope to see you again!

Take care, people!
